18.MAY.07 / Press Release Yotta takes Geospatial Vision to new heights of mapping 18 May 2007, Oxford: Geospatial Vision, a provider of advanced highway data collection technology and services, and part of the Oxford Metrics Group plc (LSE: OMG), is rebranding as Yotta. Yotta will become the new name in mapping, setting class-leading standards for extracting tiny details from huge datasets. The company, which specialises in capturing street level imaging and automatically extracting information for highways, mapping and utilities organisations around the world, already has contracts in place with a number of UK local authorities and other highways-centric organisations, including Nottinghamshire County Council, Oxfordshire County Council, and Atkins, the largest multidisciplinary consultancy in Europe. David Lowe, Yotta Managing Director, said: “People say the world is getting smaller, but just look at the level of detail on your high street; from road markings to bus stops, from drains to road signs, from road junctions to traffic lights – there’s nothing small about the amount of information next-generation maps will have to contain. Yotta has a bold fresh approach to the problem of recording street-level mapping and data collection. No one else can do what we can in the way we can do it – we simultaneously capture on video and accurately plot the precise locations of everything you see around you.” Existing Geospatial Vision customers will still be given the same excellent support and service they have become used to. But they will begin to see the benefits of Yotta’s fresh approach to radicalising the highways mapping sector. Yotta uses highly sophisticated cameras to video the built environment from the Yotta Van as it drives along a desired route. The footage is simultaneously processed and analysed to identify objects (such as traffic signals) and their precise locations. ENDS About Yotta Yotta is changing the way we look at the world around us by extracting tiny details from massive datasets – Yotta, it’s all in the detail.
